Harvard’s Cagey Campaign
in the footsteps of fellow Ivies at Dartmouth
and Princeton, Harvard students have begun a
campaign to make Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) a cage-free egg
user. Currently HUDS uses the cheaper battery cage-raised eggs. Battery cages have come under fire as an inhumane way of
storing chickens (even if you’re all mm-mm chicken, it really is pretty gross).
The campaign’s Facebook group had 244 members before this article was written,
and over 600 students have so far signed a petition in favor of cage-free eggs.
Students are now in the process of procuring a meeting with the HUDS director.
