Return to Taser Case
Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm
Ready
for an update on the UCLA Taser case? Good. Mostafa Tabatabainejad, the student
repeatedly shocked with a Taser after refusing to leave the UCLA library, has
filed a civil rights lawsuit against UCLA and university police. He is being
represented in the case by Paul Hoffman, a USC Gould School of Law professor
and a lawyer with Schonbrun, DeSimone, Seplow, Harris & Hoffman LLP. In
another interesting turn, it turns out that Tabatabainejad has bipolar
disorder—a fact that the officers in question were informed of—meaning that their
behavior may also constitute discrimination under the Americans with
Disabilities Act.
