Student Veteran Organizations Serve Those Who Have Served

As the number of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans on campus grows, students across the country are starting campus organizations dedicated to student veterans. At UCLA veteran Anthony Allman formed the Military Veterans Organization, a group intended to provide community for veterans and educate students about veterans’ rights. A similar group – the Undergraduate Veterans Association – was recently started at Dartmouth. Until now, colleges and universities were all but unprepared for the reintegration of student veterans, and many young veterans found themselves isolated on campus with few resources and little support.
