In the recent midterm elections, gay marriage faced two major setbacks in Colorado: Referendum I—a statewide initiate to establish same-sex domestic partnerships—failed, while Amendment 43—an amendment to Colorado’s state constitution banning same-sex marriage—passed. A group of students at Colorado State University decided to give the defeated proponents of gay rights some post-election hope by organizing a rally. And here’s where it gets cool. Students started a Facebook group called, “Biggest Protest in Colorado,” which rapidly gained over 2,700 members. While not every Facebook member is expected at the rally, people from as far away as Arizona and Wyoming are planning to attend.
