AlcoholEdu: Making Students More Aware
Alcohol use and college are thought of as kith n kin, however a new education program, AlcoholEdu, is making students more aware of the dangers of alcohol use and abuse. Many colleges have taken to using the online program to educate their students. The AlcoholEdu program asks students questions about their stress management and drinking habits and then has students partake in an online exam, which shows their drinking habits. For incoming freshman at Penn State, AlcoholEdu is a requirement. If students do not complete the program, it will be held against them later if any alcohol-related incidents do occur. Although most schools find the program to be a significant factor in reducing the number of alcohol-related incidents on campus, Eastern Illinois University says numbers could be dropping more. The program and schools are still trying to lower their numbers and spread alcohol awareness.
