Proposition 300, passed by more than 70 percent of Arizona voters in November 2006, restricts any student who cannot provide proof of legal status in the U.S. from receiving state funded financial aid. Accordingly students are denied status as in-state residents and are charged out-of-state tuition rates. Nearly 400 students from throughout Arizona’s three state universities have lost their eligibility to receive in-state tuition and government-funded financial aid as a result of Proposition 300.
