Exit polls from Tuesday’s Democratic primary elections in Indiana
and North Carolina indicate continued strong youth voter participation.
The Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning Engagement
estimates that 434,000 young voters cast ballots yesterday. Exit polls
also showed young voters heavily supporting Senator Obama, 74% to 25%
in North Carolina and 62% to 38% in Indiana. In Indiana, anecdotal
reports demonstrated the effects of Indiana’s voter identification law,
recentlyupheld by the Supreme Court, as nuns and students were turned away at the polls for lack of proper identification. More from CIRCLE
