Students in the Social Responsibility Club (SRC) at St. Cloud State University are encouraging their classmates to forego bottled water, noting that, on average, their fellow classmates spend as much money on water bottles as they do on gas. SRC argues that students should turn to tap water, which is free, and away from bottles, which not only burns holes in your wallet, but is also destructive to the environment. At “Boycott the Bottle”, an SRC education event, SRC informed students that the bottles they buy every day for water and soda end up in landfills and take hundreds of years to decompose.
