F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S began as five Emory students planning a benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims; today they’re a 20-person incorporated non-profit with a $4–5 million plan to promote the U.N.’s Millennium Development Goals to college students. While they’re still a long way from their total, the students of F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S. have already traveled to D.C. to meet with World Bank executives and New York to meet with members of the U.N.’s development team. Specifically, F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S. hopes to promote the U.N.’s 8 goals for the year 2015—which include eradicating hunger and ensuring environmental sustainability—through a free concert, educational exhibition, and celebrity-hosted seminar that would travel to 10 campuses in 10 months.
