Brown University officials have decided to go ahead with their plan to launch Banner, a database system that would integrate and consolidate data into a single database, despite student criticism on the subject. Students have formed a Facebook group to air their concerns about the Banner project. Since its inception last Thursday, the Facebook group has grown to over 750 members—about 15 percent of Brown undergrads. The students cite planned Banner features like binding pre-registration, strict enrollment caps, and mandatory prerequisites as sources of concern.
