In 2006 Brigham Young University banned the use of YouTube on its campus network in an effort to more strictly enforce its Honor Code—“to enrich the BYU environment by making it inspiring, comforting, productive and safe”. The school said it cannot be the means for offensive videos to be available to students and therefore cut off YouTube access on campus, including on-campus housing. On the whole, students have learned to accept the university’s decision. BYU does allow a few other video sharing sites on campus.
