In the wake of recent campus shootings, colleges and universities are debating how best to handle student safety. In several states, students and legislators are lobbying for concealed carry on campus. In early February Alabama Senator Hank Erwin proposed a set of bills advocating for colleges and universities to allow professors and qualified students to carry weapons on campus. The bills were recently voted down in the Senate, much to the dismay of some students. A similar bill in Arizona is currently awaiting a vote in the Senate. So far only Utah and Colorado allow students to carry weapons, but the discussion is spreading across the country and other states may soon follow.
