Campuses across the country celebrate, raise awareness of environmental issues on Earth Day
On April 22, students from college campuses across the country joined together to hold Earth Day celebrations and educational events. Many students used Earth Day to promote and celebrate their efforts to make America a sustainable country. At the University of Illinois, students used Earth Day to raise the profile of their “Think Green, Think Blue” campaign, holding water drinking contests and a Greek Greenhouse competition. Southern Methodist students, led by Students for a Better Society held a “barefoot on the boulevard” event with music, eco-friendly light bulbs and environmental education. Finally, students at Arizona State University held a solar powered concert to both celebrate and highlight the feasibility of solar power.
