Campuses Keep Greening

Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm

The Student Government Association (SGA) of the University of Vermont voted unanimously in support of the Clean Energy Fund (CEF). The CEF charges each student between $5 and $10, which goes towards purchasing renewable energy for the campus. It has been instituted previously at schools that include Harvard University and the University of Colorado at Boulder. American University’s student group EcoSense is helping to plan a National Climate Action Day, slated to take place on April 14 on the National Mall in D.C. As part of the rally, EcoSense plans to display a photo wall of students’ 5,000 photo petitions asking Congress to cut carbon emissions. ActivUs, a student activist group at Iowa State University, held a 'clean' car show, which featured environmentally friendly cars, such as the Toyota Prius and the Honda Accord, as well as other environmentally friendly forms of transportation, like the Segway and the bicycle.
