University of California Santa Barbara sociology professor William Robinson will not face disciplinary action over student complaints regarding an e-mail message in which he compared recent Israeli actions to those of Nazis. In January, two students complained that an e-mail to students comparing the Israeli occupation of Gaza with the Nazi-controlled Warsaw Ghetto during World War II was intimidating and caused them to drop his course. Robinson countered that the messages were appropriate and were intended to start a debate about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The UCSB faculty committee investigating the complaints found no cause to undergo a full investigation into whether or not Robinson violated the faculty code of conduct.
