Bill Clinton took a break from the campaign trail this week to announce the launch of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU), a new extension of his non-profit group that promotes commitment to finding solutions to global and local problems. CGIU’s first meeting will take place this coming March at Tulane University in New Orleans, and will consist of conferences led by educators, entrepreneurs, and world leaders, The conference will focus on issues such as human rights, global health, and poverty. Clinton hopes the conference will encourage and enable students to devise and implement immediate solutions to current problems, and part of the conference time will be spent rebuilding the city of New Orleans. Over 500 students are scheduled to attend the conference, and students may still apply at www.cgiu.org.
