At UCLA, a student panel from the Coalition for Peace spoke against the war in Iraq. About 150 students came to the panel, which focused on five central issues: human rights, homelessness, the environment, women’s issues and the economy. Five different student members of the Coalition for Peace spoke on each of issue. Representatives of the United Arab Society and the Iranian Student Group spoke about violations of Iraqi rights; a member of Food Not Bombs and the Social Justice Alliance spoke about mental and physical disabilities affecting war veterans; a member the environmental student group E3 spoke about oil consumption in the U.S and the connection between the war and foreign oil; and the student vice president of Bruin Feminists for Equality spoke about women’s rights.
