University of Chicago is initiating an “open housing” program to allow students of opposite genders to room together. The administration sent out a letter to parents last week, explaining the decision to implement the student led initiative. The plan allows for second year students and above to participate and is on an application basis only. Couples will not be prohibited from applying to live together. The idea is to make the upper class housing gender neutral. "In today's day and age it's not really fair to discriminate based on gender anymore," sophomore Asha Woodall, told the Chicago Tribune. "Sexuality is more of a spectrum."
