Students at Palm Beach Community College and Palm Beach Atlantic University are being asked to take a more proactive approach to their safety in the light of an emergency situation. PBCC has posted training videos on its website called “Shots Fired On Campus”, while PBAU will begin showing similar videos to students in January. Some of the information in the video is common sense about being aware of one’s surroundings, but other segments take a more aggressive approach to possible shooters: “If a shooter enters a closed classroom, the training says students should band together to overpower him,” the Palm Beach Post reports. “That could mean throwing books and bags at him, screaming, or tackling and restraining him.”
