Concealed Campus Weapons

In response to the recent shooting at Northern Illinois University many students are lobbying for the ability to carry guns on campus as a means of protection. Utah and Colorado are the only states where guns are currently permitted on campus, yet nearly 12,000 students nationwide are part of a grassroots effort for weapons license holders to be able to carry concealed weapons on campuses, and legislation is pending in Georgia, Idaho, Washington, Arizona, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. The Cornell University College Republicans are part of the movement to permit weapons on campus, and recently publicized their views by placing signs on the campus quad. While many of the signs were taken down by disapproving students, the group succeeded in promoting discussion on campus.
