Darfur Action

Students at the University of Chicago have stepped up their efforts to inject a measure of social responsibility into University investment policy. Members of STAND (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur) and other student groups have formed the University of Chicago Coalition for Immediate Divestment (UCCID) to pressure the University to rethink its current stance of not divesting from companies making a profit in Sudan. The article also illuminates differences between STAND and UCCID, which appear in both their strategic and tactical choices.
