Last Friday night students across the country tuned in for first of the presidential debates. Candidates John McCain and Barack Obama duked it out on the national stage over the economy and foreign policy. Students at the University of Mississippi at Oxford were fortunate watch the debate in person, while students at other Universities attended debate-watching parties on campus (a few even threw joint debate-watching and voter registration parties), and others watched from the comfort of their dorms. While the debate itself was a close call, ending with little fanfare, the discussions provoked will be enough to last students until the vice-presidential debate on Thursday.
