DePauw Severs Ties with Delta Zeta
Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm
The DePauw reports that DePauw University will officially sever ties with the Delta Zeta sorority. The decision, announced by DePauw’s President Robert G. Bottoms, comes after an ongoing controversy with nationals of the Delta Zeta sorority. The trouble began when sorority nationals asked 23 of the DePauw chapter’s 35 women to accept alumnae status and vacate their house, seemingly on the basis of their physical appearance. One of DePauw’s DZ alumna has moved to begin a new organization from the chapter’s ashes, unaffiliated with any national branch, to “promote a positive self image in each other, the University and the community.”
