Different Kinds Of Black
Inequality and the effects of stereotyping on the African Diaspora was once a topic of debate among African-American leaders—and apparently it still is. Cornell’s student paper reports on a new study, conducted by Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania, which found that American universities often increase black student enrollment by admitting more black immigrant students rather than more African-Americans. The study showed that immigrant blacks from Africa, the West Indies and Latin America made up more than a fourth of black students at Ivy League and other top universities. At Howard University, two fraternities held a forum to discuss the relations of Africans and African Americans.
