End of semester brings wave of eco-events on campuses

Date: 5/4/2009 1:31 pm

As most students cram for finals and make plans for the summer, student environmental and service groups are teaming up with their Universities to organize efforts to recycle and reuse students’ unwanted stuff.  At the University of Connecticut, what began as a “Green Grads” club event has been institutionalized as “Give ‘n’ Go.”  The event, now run in part by the University, asks students to donate un-wanted items rather than sending them to the landfill.  At the College of New Jersey, students, faculty and administrators coordinate the annual “Dump and Run” event, which both donates unwanted stuff to charity and raises awareness of the problem of waste both on and off campus.
