Every Action Has an Equal and Opposite…

We
think it’s probably accurate to say that the civil rights group By Any Means
Necessary (BAMN) is as far to one side of the political spectrum as the
conservative group Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) is to the other. So it’s
not surprising to us that when the two groups met in Ann Arbor, something of a clash ensued. BAMN
held a march against Michigan’s
Prop 2 (a ballot initiative that struck down affirmative action in the state)
mostly made up of middle school, high school, and college students. Protest
organizers bused in about 300 students from neighboring Detroit schools. But confrontations ensued
when four students from U Michigan’s YAF got in front of the BAMN march with
megaphones and incendiary signs.
