Everybody’s Doing It

Students at the University of California Santa Barbara have
started a hunger strike against the UC’s involvement in nuclear research labs.
About 80 people protested the ties, delivering a list of demands to Executive
Vice Chancellor Gene Lucas before leaving the 15 UCSB hunger strikers in the tent-style
encampment where they plan to stay. An additional 15 students are joining the
hunger strike from other UC schools. The labs in question would be responsible
for producing replacement parts for the nuclear weapons stockpile if Congress
approves the Reliable Replacement Warhead Program, which is up for discussion
soon.
