The University of Colorado’s Student Union is condemning two opinion articles recently published by the Campus Press that were interpreted as racist toward Hispanic and Asian communities. Last Thursday the Legislative Council unanimously voted to pass a resolution formally opposing the pieces titled "If it's war the Asians want …" and "No hablo ingles." While the resolution recognizes that the articles are protected under First Amendment rights to freedom of speech, it asserts the "burden of responsibility associated with free speech rights.”
