Last Tuesday’s historic election prompted strong emotional reactions across the nation – both positive and negative. On Wednesday students reported finding offensive racial slurs in an area of campus called the “Free Speech Tunnel”. This area is a passageway specifically designed for expression with graffiti and chalk. NCSU’s newspaper, the Technician, reports that the remarks were threatening towards President-Elect Obama. The AP reports the threat included shooting Obama in the head. Four students have come forward and admitted to writing the remarks. The NAACP became involved by hosting a campus discussion and then meeting with school officials. The AP also reports that the NAACP has demanded the school expel the students involved.
