Gay Campus

Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm

A student activist at Notre Dame University was threatened with immediate suspension for his participation in a SoulForce Equality Ride demonstration, which led to a skirmish with Notre Dame Security/Police last month. The SoulForce Equality Ride brings gay-spectrum young people to campuses that ban the enrollment of openly gay and lesbian students to speak about God’s universal love and acceptance. The student received only a written admonition, and is still unsure of the policy he allegedly violated. Students at Kenyon College and Middlebury College are dealing with homophobic vandalism at each of their campuses. At Kenyon, students discussed the vandalism at the Day of Dialogue, and at Middlebury, students and administrators met to discuss the events at a student town hall meeting.
