Getting to Know the Hermit Nation

While many Americans think of Kim Jong-Il as equal parts nuclear threat and fashion victim, students at Carnegie Mellon are raising awareness of the terrible living conditions and human rights abuses widely alleged to exist under his Glorious Leadership. Carnegie Mellon’s chapter of LiNK (Liberation in North Korea) displayed 98 ribbons this week, one for every North Korean who dies of hunger per hour. The members of LiNK also showed a documentary about North Korea and tabled to raise money for Safe Haven, a refugee shelter for North Koreans in China.
