Graduate students recently gathered to meet with Florida State University's President T.K. Wetherell to discuss the lack of health insurance provided for them through the school. The students' concerns were raised because Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University recently decided to provide free health insurance for their graduate students. FSU graduate students receive a small stipend for health insurance – a sum too small to be of any use to students especially considering that the average graduate student at FSU makes less than $10,000 per year before fees, taxes, books and healthcare. To better address the issue and spread the word on campus, the graduate students formed a Facebook group called Florida State University Teaching Assistant Benefit Advocacy Group.
