Fraternities and sororities across the country were busy all week with philanthropic events. The Delta Gamma at Southern Methodist University raised more than $8,000 to benefit the visually impaired in a day of water-related events. The Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Penn State University raised an exact $512.47 for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) research through a volleyball tournament, while another fraternity on campus, Phi Sigma Kappa, raised $1,768 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of a former member who succumbed to leukemia. The Greek organizations at Texas Christian University raised money for McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans through their Greek Week, a series of events and competitions between sororities and fraternities.
