Harvard Considers Diversity
Two articles from Harvard University considered diversity at the school. The Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations held its fourth annual “Block Party” to discuss the subject of diversity in blocking groups (housing groups of up to eight students), residence houses, and the wider Harvard campus. A new initiative was also moved forward to promote the Foundation’s mission of improving relations amongst the ethnic and racial groups of Harvard. On the flip side, a small group of students have drafted a petition to protest Harvard’s new transfer student policy, which halves the number of transfers the University accepts. The students were disappointed with the decision, explaining that transfer students bring diversity to the campus community.
