HIV/AIDS Retreat

Marquette University held its annual AIDS/HIV Awareness Retreat last week. The retreat, organized by the Office of Community Service and the HIV/AIDS advocacy group Watumishi: People of Service, offered students a unique insight into the problem of AIDS and HIV in Milwaukee. Students on the retreat listened to speakers, met and interacted with people who are HIV positive, and performed community service activities. Mike Ziegler, a sophomore at Marquette and one of the event’s organizers, said the retreat was meant to give students a human perspective of the disease and to instill in them a desire for change.
