HPV, the virus that leads to cervical cancer, is more prominent in colleges that previously thought. A study reports that 26 percent of women entering college tested HPV positive and that of those who tested negative, 46 percent would test positive shortly after. The infections are short lived and will clear the body eventually. However, The American Cancer Institution project 11,000 women will develop cervical cancer in 2007, 70 percent of those cases coming from HPV infections.
