This past week marked the thirtieth birthday of Humboldt University's environmental living lab, the Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT). The lab community is an example of environmentally friendly living and a testament to student activism. In 1978, students put a building which was set to be demolished to good use by using it as lab space to experiment with environmentally friendly technologies and inventions. Today CCAT is a testament to the university’s successful contribution to help save the environment. The university celebrated the anniversary with workshops and fundraisers to continue the spirit and practice of environmentalism.
