Dartmouth
College’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity has been successful in
its bid for their volunteers to earn PE credit. Habitat for Humanity is an
ecumenical Christian organization that builds houses for poor and homeless
people, on the revolutionary premise that decent shelter is a matter of
conscience; Dartmouth’s chapter works on a home in Lebanon, New Hampshire on
Mondays and Saturdays. Since partnering with the PE department, their volunteer
rate has increased by about 50 percent.
