It Ain’t Easy Being Green

Date: 11/17/2008 4:28 pm

All over the country campus dining halls are going green. One of them is Boston College’s Corcoran Commons, where Styrofoam plates will be replaced with decomposable plates. Many dining halls are also going “trayless” like Alabama’s Troy University, University of Alabama, and Colorado’s Mesa State College. Many people think this is a great way to save water, energy, and food. Plenty Magazine, an environment news magazine, recently posted a list of green campuses nationwide. One of the schools that made the list is Ohio’s Oberlin College which took the title of “Greenest Conscience” for having a website where students can check their energy consumption. University of New Hampshire was awarded “most creative renewable power” for a$45 million project will enable the school to draw 85 percent of its power from its own trash.
