Men in the field of engineering outnumber women by a five-to-one margin. At the University of Maryland, a program is in the works to combine special classes, guest lectures, and team projects to encourage more women to consider engineering by seeing how they fit in the work force. Members of the Columbia Women's Business Society hosted a leadership conference last weekend, hoping to pair students with successful businesswomen as mentors. The event featured lectures and panels with representatives from a wide variety of fields.
