Mental Health Check

An article from the College of William and Mary’s paper reports that students who seek mental health treatment for suicidal tendencies in Virginia will not be able to be expelled or punished for this, thanks to a bill passed unanimously by the Virginia State Legislature. Colorado State University’s paper, the Rocky Mountain Collegian, carries a feature about students dealing with mental health disorders. An article from the University of California San Diego reports on a recent finding from the University of California Santa Barbara suggesting Asian American students are less likely to seek social support than their peers. The report suggests Asian Americans are often concerned that seeking help may negatively affect their relationships—a big contrast from Americans of European decent, who tend to deal more explicitly with emotional issues.
