With Spring Break just around the corner, Howard students are in the final stages of fundraising and preparing for their Alternative Spring Break, which will take close to 500 students to New Orleans to rebuild houses for a week. Thirteen students at Princeton University have issued a public call for politicians to get their hands dirty and help “gut” houses in New Orleans (“gutting” must be done before a house can be renovated). "The Got Guts Challenge” has met some controversy (especially from Princeton alums), but students are confident in the nonpartisan project. They are in the process of applying for 501(c)3 tax status, which would make them a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization.
