Students at Willamette University are promoting gender-blind housing for their school, largely because of the comfort gender-blind housing can offer gay and lesbian students (who may feel more confrortable about sharing a room with someone of the opposite sex). The plan, which was presented to Concerned Students for Social Justice and the Council for Diversity and Social Justice, would make gender-blind housing an opt-in program; single-sex floors would stay that way and bathrooms would not be co-ed.
