NCAA May Ban Use of Men's Practice Teams

Women's teams, especially women's basketball teams, often play against men's teams in practices; proponents say playing against men helps women players to improve their speed and quickness. But according to a position statement released in December, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics believes that the use of men's practice "violates the spirit of gender equity and Title IX." The soonest any vote on the issue could happen is at the NCAA's January 2008 convention.
