No Affirmative Action Means Fewer Minorities

With the passing of the Affirmative Action Ban in 2006, which stated that there could be no race or gender-based affirmative action, the number of minority students accepted to college has dropped in recent years. For the University of Michigan, the ban meant a slight fall in the number of minority students accepted for the past year’s freshman class. The fear is that the number of minorities on campuses will decline drastically — something that schools are hoping to avoid.
