We couldn’t resist sneaking another editorial into our compilation of student news—in this case, because Leon Abbo’s editorial on Open Admissions is so clear about why we should be wary of the demise of Open Admissions. For those of you unfamiliar with the controversy, Open Admissions—the philosophy many of our public institutions were founded with—holds that publicly funded institutions should be open to anyone. Many public universities are abandoning this philosophy as they vie for top academic ratings.
