Palm Beach Community College Offers Partner Benefits

Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm

The Board of Trustees at Palm Beach Community College voted to launch a new pilot program that will provide health insurance benefits to domestic partners of full-time college employees. The board's decision was issued this month after  uproar in the LGBT community over a  controversy in August of 2007. Just 90 days after voting against health insurance for the domestic partners of employees, the college system announced the addition of a new health insurance policy for pets. The new pilot program will last 18 months, and trustees will decide in 2010 whether or not to make the program permanent.
