Party Interrupted

A block party to celebrate Israeli culture was interrupted by protesters at the University of Texas last week. Protesters from the Palestine Solidarity Committee made a political statement about the actions of the state of Israel, protesting in particular what they called Israel’s history of violence and apartheid (citing in particular the separation wall). Members of Texas Hillel were distressed that there were protests at their party, which they felt was not a political event (and therefore did not warrant protesting).
