Racial Profiling?

The United Minorities Council at the University of Pennsylvania alleges racial profiling was involved in the detention of a black male student last week. The student alleges that University security handcuffed him during a verbal exchange based upon their assumption that he was not affiliated with the University. Officials from the Division of Public Safety maintain that the officers were following protocol in detaining a “confrontational” person until determining that he had committed no crime. Campus minority groups assert that the incident is a symptom of institutional discrimination.
