Although many prefer to see racism as a thing of the past, it is still present on campus. Hate crimes and mistreatment from both faculty and staff as well as from other students have persisted across the country and students are grappling with the proper ways to address diversity issues on campus. At the University of Illinois Student Counseling Services are getting involved, offering resources to students affected by racial tensions. The University of Michigan is holding a series of lectures called Conversation on Race to encourage students to tackle important race issues.
